A complaint has been filed in the court against five persons including the Mayor for illegally appointing another person by stopping the salary of the contractually appointed officer of Barisal City Corporation as Networking Engineer.

Tuesday (September 19) Barisal Senior Assistant Judge Md. Hasibul Hasan has accepted the case and kept it for order, said the bench assistant Md. Bayezid. The plaintiff in the case is Barisal City Corporation’s contractual officer of Networking Engineer Sheikh Md. Swaib Kabir. He is a resident of Baptist Mission Road in the city Sheikh Md. Shah Jahan is the son of Kabir.

The defendants in the case are City Mayor Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah, Chief Executive Officer, Member Secretary of the Contractual Recruitment Committee, Budget cum Accounting Officer and Obaidur Rahman who is currently working in the position of Networking Engineering.

Plaintiff’s lawyer Azad Rahman said that on November 19, 2020, Barisal City Corporation published a contractual recruitment circular for the post of networking. Accordingly, the plaintiff Sheikh Md. Swaib Kabir secured first rank in written and oral examination and was appointed on contract basis for three years on 9 May 2021. He was paid regular salary till January 4, 2023 but was later terminated for unknown reasons.

In the case, the plaintiff, Swaib Kabir, complained that instead of firing him, another person was appointed to the same position without following the government regulations. On Sunday (September 17) he went to the City Corporation and requested to pay the salary and cancel the illegal appointment. But they said they won’t. That is why he filed the case.
